Organisations that train trainers

Links to various organisations that are involved with the training of trainers.

  • The Electronic Training Village
    The Electronic Training Village facilitates the flow of information amongst and between policy makers, researchers and practitioners in vocational education and training throughout Europe and beyond. Its aim is to stimulate communication, interaction and debate on the development of vocational training policy, practice and research.

  • NIACE - The National Organisation for Adult Learning
    NIACE (the National Organisation for Adult Learning) has a broad remit to promote lifelong learning opportunities for adults (within education and training) The NIACE website is easy to navigate and contains up to date information about:

    • conferences
    • public policy, and
    • research and development

    It also has an information service (including information about sources of funding)

  • The Training Zone
    The TrainingZONE is a large community for training and HR professional. It has discussion forums on a wide range of training issues, resource material (e.g. toolkits, tenders, online coaches, directory of trainers and suppliers, UK company data etc.) and online workshops. If you want you can request a regular e-mail bulletin to keep you up to date with what is new at the site.

  • CIPD
    This is the site for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). For full access you need to be a member of the CIPD, but you can log on as a guest to find out about products and services, recent publications, professional practice and so forth, with particular sections such as CIPD Training Directory and CIPD Bookstore.

  • The National Training Organisation for Employment (empNTO)
    The National Training organisation for employment can he found here. You can get access to the training and development NVQs, project updates (e.g. LEONARDO), and their newsletter.

  • Lifelong Learning UK
    Lifelong Learning UK is the Sector Skills Council responsible for the professional development of all those working in community learning and development; further education; higher education; libraries, archives and information services; and work-based learning. (Since January 2004, LLUK has taken over the work of three former national training organisations, FENTO, PAULO and isNTO, together with the NTO responsibilities of HESDA.)

  • Centres for Excellence in Teacher Training
    For organisations hoping to be Centres for Excellence in Teacher Training in England.

  • ReferNet
    ReferNet is a network established by the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP). It aims to meet the growing demand for comparable information across Europe in Vocational Education and Training (VET). ReferNet provides a decentralised approach to information exchange, and is based on national consortia in participating countries, made up of VET stakeholders. The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) is the UK coordinator. The UK network is funded by CEDEFOP and the Department for Education and Skills.

  • Centre for Excellence in Leadership
    CEL seeks to foster and support leadership improvement, reform and transformation throughout the Learning and Skills Sector.

  • Standards Verification UK
    Standards Verification UK is a wholly owned subsidiary of LLUK (Lifelong Learning UK). They are responsible for endorsing initial teacher training qualifications and approving specialist qualifications for teachers of ESOL, literacy and numeracy in the learning and skills sector in England.
