Introduction

Aims and Objectives of TTnet (UK)

TTnet (UK) is part of a larger European Training of Trainers network set up by CEDEFOP in 1998 This large European network evolved from a loose coalition of interest groups into a more formalised body after a series of CEDEFOP sponsored workshops and seminars culminating in a major seminar in Spain in 1995. This was followed by the publication by CEDEFOP in 1999 of National Country Studies on the Training of Trainers.

The TTnet (UK) was launched in October 1998 by the Universities of Greenwich and Surrey. Members from 15 organisations participated in the launch which was aimed at both publicising and working out aims and objectives of the network.

Both a website and a membership mailbase have been set up and linked into the CEDEFOP Electronic Training Village's TTnet house.

The general aims of TTnet (UK) fall into three broad categories: information on innovation, research, and co-operation in the area of training of trainers.

These aims break down into 5 objectives:

  • Through both the mailbase discussion list and TTnet (UK) website to promote discussion, share and give information/news on key policy areas involved in the training of trainers.

  • To provide a resource/information base on innovative practices and research in the area of training of trainers.

  • To link into the wider European TT network both to disseminate information, participate in wider discussion and to offer possible partnerships for collaboration and research.

  • To offer guidance and expertise to CEDEFOP in the training of trainers area.

  • To participate in seminars/workshops on training of trainers issues both in the UK and in Europe.

With these objectives in mind, we on the steering group invite you the membership to participate and enrich the TTnet (UK) website and in so doing help bring some unity, fellowship and a sense of professionalism to the diverse world of training of trainers.

TTnet (UK) co-ordinators.
