Seminar series

This seminar series explores methodological issues relating to the visual dimensions of business, management and organizational life. Visual Methods explicitly use images in various ways including drawing, photography, published organizational literature, advertisements, video/film and Internet pages. The images are either regarded as a source of data in themselves, as a way of producing data through their use, or a combination of the two. Visual studies of organization and the use of visual methods in organizations are both under explored areas of business and management studies.

This seminar series has been designed with five aims in mind:

  1. To provide a sustained, critical forum to think through the challenges and opportunities in developing visual studies in organizations;
  2. To bring together researchers who are studying organizations visually and to draw in expertise on visual matters from wider social science and arts disciplines;
  3. To raise awareness of visual studies/ methods among researchers and all stakeholders in academic, cultural and business (profit and not-for-profit) organizations;
  4. To inspire doctoral, early-career and established researchers; and
  5. To provide impetus and momentum for inVISIO as an established international research network.
