E-qualification
Train-the-trainer course to promote equal opportunities in continuing (vocational) education and training

bfi Österreich together with transnational partners from Germany, Belgium, Italy and the UK have developed a train-the-trainer course for the promotion of equal opportunities in (continuing) vocational education and training within the LEONARDO-Project E-qualification. This course is going to be tested in Austria between January and July 2000 and we want to invite participants from all European countries. We would therefore like to inform persons and institutions who might be interested in our project as well as address potential participants. (Note that a part of the travel costs will be reimbursed especially for participants coming from outside of Austria)

Update on work in Scotland as part of the CEDEFOP Project 'Teachers and Trainers of Vocational Training: Training Systems'
Ian Finlay, The University of Strathclyde

Several years ago CEDEFOP published related texts that described the training systems for teachers and trainers of vocational training in the member states. Rather than simply update these publications in a printed format, the team at CEDEFOP decided to produce a CD-ROM which would allow possibility of links to various archives. The original monographs on the member states were to be updated and revised to fit the CD-ROM format. A colleague, David Taylor, and I from the Scottish School of Further Education at the University of Strathclyde were charged with doing the work on the United Kingdom section of the CD-ROM. the work was completed in September and the CD-ROM should be available at the end of 1999.

The document includes 5 main sections:

  1. Policies
  2. Systems
  3. Case Histories
  4. Legislation
  5. Documentation

Systems is the largest section and it contains headings on the structure of the system for training teachers and trainers of vocational training including both initial and continuing training, training provision, and the roles of teachers and trainers.

Documents includes a list of relevant organisations, statistics, glossary of terms and abbreviations and a bibliography.
